To load custom Points of Interest (POIs) using the Garmin POI Loader, you must first organize your data files inside a single folder on your computer before utilizing the software to transfer them to your device. ⚙️ Phase 1: Prepare Your Files
The Garmin POI Loader software processes spreadsheet files and converts them into a single file format for your GPS device.
Supported Formats: Save your custom location lists as .csv or .gpx data files using coordinates based on the WGS84 map datum.
The Main Folder: Create a brand new folder on your computer desktop named something clear, like My POIs.
The “Overwrite” Rule: Put all your data files inside this main folder. Every time you run the loader, it completely overwrites existing custom POIs on your Garmin device with the new bundle.
Creating Categories: To see structured menus on your GPS screen, create subfolders inside My POIs (e.g., Rest Stops, Campgrounds) and drop the matching files inside them.
Custom Icons (Optional): You can place a .bmp image file next to your data file. It must have the exact same name as the data file (e.g., toilets.gpx and toilets.bmp) to appear as a screen icon. 💻 Phase 2: Run the Garmin POI Loader
